Team Overview
Founded in 1926, Nippon Sport Science University (NSSU) is a cornerstone of Japanese college basketball and one of its most decorated programs. The team has claimed a record 14 All-Japan Intercollegiate Championships, including a dominant four-peat ending in 2011, and has won the KCBF Kanto University Spring Tournament 24 times—most recently in 2025. Fun fact: the fictional “Fukazawa University” from the anime Slam Dunk is widely believed to be inspired by NSSU. With their legacy of excellence, NSSU continues to shape the sport in Japan. Notable historic players include Asato Ogawa, Takuya Okada, and Satoru Furuta.
