The lead changed hands 37 times, nearly double the AUBL record of 19 set two days ago, and the game was tied 16 more, also an all-time record. Neither team led by more than 10. PKU shot 54.8% from the field, the best by any team at AUBL26, set a tournament record with 60 points in the paint, and still lost. The game was won at the free throw line where SJTU made 29 of 38 free throws to PKU's 5 of 10. SJTU also won the fast break 13-4 and second-chance points 13-6.

Chen Tiancan had 29 points, 10 assists and 5 steals, making 19 of 21 from the line — the most free throws anyone has made in an AUBL game, past the 13 Shin Matsumoto made two days ago. Wang Zhipeng scored 35 on 16-of-26, one short of Matsumoto's all-time scoring record, with 14 in the 3rd quarter, the most in any quarter at AUBL26.

GAME RECAP

Chen Tiancan (陈天灿) made an AUBL-record 19 free throws and scored his team's last five points from the line, and SJTU beat Peking University 79-77 on Thursday to reach the first semifinal in their AUBL history. It was also the first win over PKU in SJTU program history, in AUBL or CUBAL.

PKU led 74-71 with 2:41 to play and never scored from the field again.

Wang Yan (王岩) of SJTU tipped in his own miss to make it a one-point game. Chen Tiancan was fouled shooting a three and made all three free throws, and SJTU went up 76-74 with 1:44 left. Wang Zhipeng (汪志鹏) answered with a backboard three of his own — his 35th point — and PKU were back in front 77-76 with 51 seconds to go. Chen Tiancan drew another foul and made both free throws, Angsaer Muheyati (昂萨尔·木合亚提) turned the ball over, and Lin Xing (林星) made a free throw to push it to two and seal the game. The lead changed hands 37 times and the game was tied 16 more, both all-time AUBL records.

Wang Zhipeng scored 35 on 16-of-26 shooting, one point short of the AUBL record Shin Matsumoto set five days ago, and his 14 in the 3rd quarter are the most in any quarter at AUBL26.

Hu Hui (胡汇) had 22 points and 13 rebounds, and he and Chen Tiancan gave SJTU two double-doubles in a game for the first time at AUBL26. Chen Tiancan drew 10 fouls, played 39 minutes and finished 4 rebounds short of the first triple-double in AUBL history.
