August 22 — In the first quarterfinal of the inaugural Asian University Basketball League (AUBL), Shanghai Jiao Tong University faced National Chengchi University (NCCU). NCCU’s balanced team attack overwhelmed their opponent, highlighted by a 14–0 second-quarter run that pushed them ahead 51–34 at halftime. In the third quarter, NCCU delivered a dominant 15–0 spurt and later stretched the lead beyond 40 points. The contest was effectively decided early in the fourth, as NCCU rolled to a commanding 102–58 victory to advance to the semifinals, where they will meet the winner between Yonsei University and Etugen University.

NCCU finished the group stage 2–0 to top Group D, while SJTU went 1–1 to finish second in Group C.

  • First Quarter: SJTU struck first with threes from Wang Yan and Dun Jiawei for a 6–3 lead. NCCU responded inside and out to grab the advantage, but Wang Yan hit another three to close the gap. NCCU then pushed ahead by 5. Yu Zihan sparked SJTU with 5 straight points, tying the game 14–14. Wu Zhi Kai and Sung Hsin Hao combined for a 12–5 NCCU run to go up by 7. Yu Zihan nailed his second three, but NCCU added a free throw to finish the quarter up 27–22. Wu Zhi Kai had 11 points on three triples, while Yu Zihan had 10 points on two threes.
  • Second Quarter: NCCU opened with 4 straight points. Wang Yan, just subbed in, quickly picked up his third foul and was sent back to the bench. SJTU went cold, while NCCU capitalized with a 14–0 run to open a 19-point lead. Dun Jiawei finally ended the drought with a three. NCCU answered, and although Hu Lichang hit a three for SJTU, NCCU stretched the gap back to 19. Yu Zihan added his third three, but NCCU stayed in control, closing the half up 51–34. At halftime, Sung Hsin Hao had 10, Wu Zhi Kai 11, and Yu Zihan 16 (4 threes).
  • Third Quarter: SJTU opened with 2 points, but then struggled with repeated misses and turnovers. NCCU exploded with a 15–0 run to go up 66–36. Dun Jiawei hit back-to-back baskets to trim it under 30, but NCCU quickly widened the gap again. SJTU dropped the quarter 12–28 and trailed 79–46 after three. By this point, NCCU had six players in double figures, while only Dun Jiawei and Yu Zihan reached double digits for SJTU.
  • Fourth Quarter: Down 33, SJTU had little chance of a comeback, and the game quickly entered garbage time. Both sides rotated players, but NCCU continued to dominate both ends, ballooning the lead past 40. SJTU dropped the quarter 12–23, and the game ended in a 102–58 rout. NCCU advanced with its third straight win of the tournament.
