GAME RECAP

Yonsei booked their place in the AUBL26 knockout round with a 91-69 win over CUHK at Binjiang Gymnasium, ending the Hong Kong champions' tournament at 0-2.

The teams traded the lead 8 times in the first 5 minutes and CUHK were in front 10-9 before Yonsei scored 15 unanswered points to close the quarter 27-14, and CUHK committed 11 of their 24 turnovers all in the 1st.

CUHK stayed in it from the free throw line in the 2nd, going 8-of-8 in the first half while shooting 6-of-18 from the field in the quarter, and took it 17-14 to trail 41-31 at the break.

Yonsei's 3rd quarter ended the game. They forced 8 turnovers, turned them into 16 fast break points and went 9-of-10 inside the arc, outscoring CUHK 34-17. Lee Chae Hyung scored 13 of his 21 points in the period.

Three Yonsei players reached the 20-point mark, led by Gu Seung Chae with 22. Lee Chae Hyung, the Player of the Game, finished 7-of-9 from the field and 7-of-7 inside the arc, adding 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Lee Hae Sol scored 20, and Yonsei ended with 23 assists on 33 made baskets.

For CUHK, Han Xin Yao (韓鑫垚) came the closest anyone has to a triple-double at AUBL26 with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. His team outrebounded Yonsei 41-35 and shot slightly better from the field, 44.6% to 44.0%, but the 24 turnovers handed Yonsei 19 extra shots and a 19-2 edge on the fast break. Ethan Wen (文佐鳴) scored all 18 of his points from 3 on 6-of-11 (54.5%) as CUHK took the 4th quarter 21-16 with the result long settled.

LOOKING AHEAD

Yonsei are through to the knockout round and CUHK are out at 0-2. Yonsei close the group against Peking University on August 4 at 19:30 HKT, with only seeding left to decide.
